Over One Thousand African Businessmen Reside in Yiwu
Data of Zhejiang Yiwu Foreign Service show that at present, there is a total of more than 360 permanent trade organizations established in Yiwu by Africans with more than 1,000 African merchant residents. Africa has become an important trading partner of Yiwu market.
It is learnt that Yiwu African Products Exhibition Center which provides Tradeshow Window for 48 African countries will open in April this year. Its planning area covers about 5,000 square meters and has introduced Benin bronze, Tanzania ebony, South African diamond jewelry, Zimbabwe stone sculpture, Mozambique musical instruments and some other special goods from altogether 13 African countries. Currently, the goods that exported from Yiwu market to Africa are mainly related to the local cheap and quality textiles, toys and so on, involving 17 African countries such as Algeria, Ghana etc.
Official of Yiwu government said that Yiwu is also considering building up an economic and trade cooperation zone in Africa with multifunction, goods distribution type, bonded type as a whole. Till now, the operating mechanism of the cooperation zone has been established to further strengthen the economic and trade cooperation with African countries.
